Rainbow Runners go the distance to support healthier lives across North Wales

9th June 2026

The Rainbow Foundation is celebrating the incredible efforts of its “Rainbow Runners”, who have raised more than £8,000 since first taking part in the Adrenaline Sporting Events Wrexham 10K in 2024.

Taking part in the event every year since its launch, the team of dedicated fundraisers—alongside those who have taken on marathon challenges—are helping to transform lives across North Wales. The funds raised support people to live healthier, happier and more connected lives within their communities.

This year’s Wrexham 10K Rainbow Runners included Liz Carnie, Sian Williams, Jake Leary and Lorraine Evans. They were joined in spirit by the Foundation’s CEO, Caroline Tudor-James, who took on the London Marathon as part of the same fundraising effort.

Reflecting on her achievement of running the London Marathon in April, CEO Caroline Tudor-James said: “I’m definitely no runner, so this was one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever taken on. But I was spurred on by the incredible graduates from our Active Futures programme and those who’ve come through all our therapeutic and reablement support. I see how hard they work to regain independence, and it helped keep me going when the miles got tough.”

The Rainbow Foundation has expressed its pride in every runner who took part, recognising both their determination and their commitment to supporting others.

“We are so proud of every single one of our runners, and especially grateful that they chose to run for the Rainbow Foundation,” Fundraising Officer Lindsey Bannister said. “Their support helps us support vulnerable people in our local communities.”

The charity also extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, cheered from the sidelines, or sent messages of encouragement.

Supporting people to live well as they age is at the heart of Rainbow’s work. The organisation delivers a wide range of services, including mental health and wellbeing support, physical activity programmes, targeted dementia work, and initiatives to tackle loneliness. It also supports individuals and families with advance care planning and end-of-life decisions.

“At its core, this is about sparking a movement for movement,” Lindsey added. “Ageing touches every one of us, and the future we shape now will be the one we all grow old into.”

The Rainbow Foundation is already looking forward to future events and are inviting more people to get involved.
