COMMUNITY TRANSPORT

Helping people stay connected, independent and active

Helping People Stay Connected

At the Rainbow Foundation, we believe that access to reliable, affordable transport can transform lives. For many people across North Wales, particularly those living in rural communities, transport is often the key to maintaining independence, accessing services and staying connected to family, friends and local communities.

Our community transport services help people get where they need to be safely and comfortably, whether that’s accessing one of our services, attending appointments, enjoying a day out or simply doing their weekly shopping.

Supporting our services

Transport plays an essential role in enabling people to access our Day Opportunities and Active Futures programmes.

Our accessible vehicles provide safe and reliable transport to and from our centres and activities, helping individuals participate fully in the opportunities available to them. For many people we support, this service removes a significant barrier to accessing activities that promote wellbeing, skills development, social connection and independence.

By providing transport alongside our services, we help ensure that geography or mobility challenges do not prevent people from taking part in the support they need.

Shopping Trips and Everyday Independence

We know that maintaining independence often starts with being able to complete everyday tasks.

Our regular transport services include popular community trips such as Stan’s fortnightly shopping trip, enabling people to access local shops, collect essentials and enjoy time out in the community. These outings provide practical support while also offering valuable opportunities for social interaction and friendship.

For many participants, these trips are an important part of maintaining confidence, routine and independence.

Enjoying New Experiences

Transport is also about creating opportunities for enjoyment, connection and making memories.

Throughout the year, we organise day trips for the people we support, helping them access places and experiences that might otherwise be difficult to reach. From visits to the seaside and local attractions to seasonal events and community activities, these outings provide opportunities to socialise, explore new places and enjoy meaningful experiences with friends.

These trips help reduce isolation, build confidence and support overall wellbeing.

Rural Community Transport

Many people living in rural North Wales face significant challenges accessing transport, particularly older people, people with disabilities and those without access to a car.

Our Rural Community Transport Scheme helps bridge that gap by providing accessible and affordable transport for individuals and groups who may otherwise struggle to reach essential services, activities and community facilities.

The scheme helps people remain active within their communities, attend appointments, access local services and maintain social connections, supporting healthier, more independent lives.

By connecting people with their communities, we help ensure that living in a rural area does not mean being left behind.

More Than Transport

Every journey we provide is about more than simply getting from A to B.

Our community transport services help people access opportunities, build relationships, maintain independence and participate fully in their communities. Whether supporting someone to attend a Rainbow Foundation service, enjoy a day at the coast or reach a local shop, we are proud to help people stay connected to the things that matter most.
